Justice Elizabeth M. Rochford and the Illinois Supreme Court have announced the appointment of Associate Judge Kimberly DiGiovanni as an At-Large Circuit Judge in the 16th Circuit Kane County.
Judge DiGiovanni was appointed to fill the circuit court vacancy created by the passing of Justice Donald Hudson, who was assigned to the 2nd District Appellate Court.
The appointment is effective July 5, 2023, and will conclude December 2, 2024, following the November 2024 general election. “Judge DiGiovanni has distinguished herself as an associate judge and has previous experience as a practitioner in criminal and family law,” Justice Rochford said. “She has also demonstrated a commitment to legal, judicial and community service throughout her career.” Judge DiGiovanni was appointed as an associate judge in November 2022.
She began her career in the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office as an Assistant State’s Attorney in 2004. She opened the Law Offices of Kim M. DiGiovanni, LTD in 2007 and maintained that office until her appointment to the bench. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communications from DePaul University and earned her Juris Doctor from the DePaul University School of Law.
She served as a Judicial Law Clerk in the 16th Circuit from 2002-2004. Her professional affiliations include the Kane, Kendall and DuPage County Bar Associations as well as the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois and the Illinois State Bar Association.
