EDWARDSVILLE – The son of a former patient at River Crossing of Edwardsville claims his mother was neglected while under the facility's care.
Plaintiff David Webb, acting as executor of the estate of Joann Krietemeyer and individually, filed the lawsuit in the Madison County Circuit Court against Edwardsville NH, LLC, doing business as River Crossing of Edwardsville, and NH Operator Holdings VII, LLC, citing negligence.
According to the lawsuit, on February 4, 2022, Krietemeyer died and left a last will and testament, which included a petition for her son, Webb, to seek recovery of damages she sustained while she was still alive.
The lawsuit states that Krietemeyer was admitted as a resident to River Crossing of Edwardsville on Jan. 17, 2022, until she was removed from the facility by Webb on Jan. 27. According to the lawsuit, while Krietemeyer was under the care of River Crossing, the defendants negligently failed to provide her with proper care and failed to properly assist her in going to the restroom. As a result of the defendant's negligence, she allegedly developed pressure ulcers on her back and buttocks, which became infected required her to be hospitalized.
She claims her injuries caused her to experience pain, suffering and decreased quality of life up until her eventual death.
The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus attorney's fees, court costs and any other relief the court deems proper. He is represented in this case by attorney William L. Berry of William Berry & Associates, LLC in Collinsville.
