EDWARDSVILLE – An Midwest Petroleum employee claims he was injured after he allegedly slipped on a wooden ramp at work and fell.

Plaintiff Justin Bollinger filed the lawsuit in the Madison County Circuit Court against Midwest Petroleum Co., citing negligence.

According to the lawsuit, Bollinger was an employee of Midwest Petroleum. As part of his job duties, he was required to deliver the company's products to a storage building that is only accessible by a wooden ramp. Bollinger states that on June 15, 2021, he was carrying out his work duties and pulling a dolly up the wet wooden ramp. He claims he lost his footing and fell, injuring himself. According to Bollinger, the ramp lacked proper traction material to prevent slipping and was constructed in a way that would allow it to flex under the weight up people using it.

According to Bollinger, Midwest Petroleum negligently failed to properly maintain the wooden ramp to protect the safety of its employees.

Bollinger alleges he suffered injuries to his right foot and leg, which have caused him to experience disability, lost wages, pain and suffering. He adds that he has incurred medical expenses and will continue to require the services of medical staff to recover.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus court costs and any other relief the court deems proper. He is represented in this case by attorney Lanny Darr of Darr Law Offices in Alton.
