EDWARDSVILLE – A shopper is suing Sam's Club after he allegedly slipped while pumping gas at the O'Fallon store.
Plaintiff Anthony Chandler filed the lawsuit in the St. Clair Circuit Court against Wal-Mart Inc. doing business as Sam's Club, citing negligence.
According to the lawsuit, Chandler was buying gasoline at a Sam's Club store in O'Fallon on Oct. 20, 2022. He claims that while he was pumping gas, he slipped on gasoline that had spilled on the ground, injuring himself.
According to Chandler, the defendant negligently failed to properly maintain the premises to protect the safety of its customers.
Chandler alleges he suffered bodily injuries, which have caused him to experience disability, pain and suffering. He alleges his injuries will impact his ability to enjoy a normal life. The lawsuit states that Chandler has incurred medical expenses and will continue to require the services of medical staff to recover.
The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $75,000, plus court costs and any other relief the court deems proper. He is represented in this case by attorney Jeffrey A. Kopis of Jerome, Salmi and Kopis, LLC in Fairview Heights.
