BELLEVILLE – A shopper is suing an O'Fallon Walmart after she allegedly slipped and fell in the store's produce section.

Plaintiff Wanda Williams filed the lawsuit in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Wal-Mart Inc., citing negligence.

According to the lawsuit, Williams was a patron at a Walmart store in O'Fallon on June 13, 2022. She claims that while she was shopping in the produce department, she slipped on water that was leaking from underneath a cooler and fell, severely injuring herself.

According to Williams, the defendants negligently failed to properly maintain the premises to protect the safety of its customers.

Williams alleges she suffered injuries, which have caused her to experience disability, pain, and suffering. She claims her injuries will impact her ability to enjoy a normal life. She adds that she has incurred medical expenses and will continue to require the services of medical staff to recover.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus court costs and any other relief the court deems proper. She is represented in this case by attorney Jeffrey A. Kopis of Jerome, Salmi and Kopis, LLC in Fairview Heights.
