EDWARDSVILLE – A shopper is suing Walmart after he allegedly slipped and injured himself in the Wood River store.

Plaintiff Paul E. Lunsford, Jr. filed the lawsuit in the Madison County Circuit Court against Wal-Mart Inc., citing negligence.

According to the lawsuit, Lunsford was a patron at a Walmart store in Wood River on Oct. 15, 2022. He claims that while he was shopping, he slipped on a greasy substance and fell, severely injuring himself.

According to Lunsford, the defendants negligently failed to properly maintain the premises to protect the safety of its customers.

Lunsford alleges he suffered injuries to his right knee, which have caused him to experience pain and suffering. He adds that he has incurred medical expenses and will continue to require the services of medical staff to recover.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus court costs and any other relief the court deems proper. He is represented in this case by attorney Keith Short of Keith Short and Associates in Alton.
