EDWARDSVILLE – Woman files negligence lawsuit after stepping into a hole and falling at a Glen Carbon cemetery.

Plaintiff Cynthia Keeton filed the lawsuit in the Madison County Circuit Court against Stonemore Illinois Subsidiary LLC, doing business as Sunset Hill Memorial Estates of Glen Carbon, citing negligence.

According to the lawsuit, Keeton was visiting a grave site on the defendant's premises on Dec. 2, 2021, when she suddenly stepped into a hole, causing her to fall and sustain serious injuries.

According to Keeton, the defendants were negligent and careless in their failure to properly maintain the property and their failure to notify her that there was a dangerous hole on the property.

Keeton alleges she has suffered severe injuries, which have caused her to experience disability, pain and suffering. She adds that she has incurred medical expenses and will continue to require the services of medical staff to recover.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus court costs and any other relief the court deems proper. She is represented in this case by attorney John H. Hustava in Collinsville.
