BELLEVILLE – An O'Fallon renter is suing her landlord, alleging a malfunctioning shower door fell on her and caused her to sustain severe injuries.

Plaintiff Pauline Brown filed the lawsuit in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Christine Enterprises, Inc. & Schuler Family Trust, citing negligence.

According to the lawsuit, Brown was a resident at an O'Fallon rental property that was owned and maintained by the defendants. Brown claims that on June 25, 2022, she was taking a shower when the shower door went off the tracks and fell on her, causing her to suffer injuries injury. She adds that she had previously notified the defendants of the malfunctioning door.

The lawsuit states that the defendants negligently failed to properly maintain the premises to protect the safety of its tenants.

Brown claims she sustained severe and permanent injuries, which have caused her to experience pain, suffering, disability and will impact her ability to earn income and enjoy normal life in the future. The plaintiff adds that as a result of her injuries, she has incurred medical costs and will continue to require medical care to recover.

Brown is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus court costs and any other relief the court deems proper. She is represented in this case by attorney Jarrod P. Beasley of Kuehn, Beasley & Young, P.C. in Belleville.
