BELLEVILLE –  A former Cedar Ridge Care and Rehabilitation Center employee filed a wrongful termination lawsuit, claiming she was fired after seeking worker's compensation benefits.

Plaintiff Jasmine Myers filed the lawsuit in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Cedar Ridge Care and Rehabilitation Center, LLC, citing retaliatory discharge.

According to the lawsuit, Myers was employed by the defendants. She claims that on June 11, 2022, she injured her head and neck while under the scope of her employment. Myers informed her shift leader of the injury and took steps to claim worker's compensation benefits.  Myers claims she was later terminated on Dec. 19, 2022, in retaliation for seeking worker's compensation benefits.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus court costs and any other relief the court deems proper. She is represented in this case by attorney Mark C. Scoggins of Crowder & Scoggins, LTD in Columbia.
