EDWARDSVILLE – A Union Pacific Railroad employee has filed a negligence claim after allegedly suffering injuries on the job.
Plaintiff William C. Williford filed the lawsuit in the Madison County Circuit Court against defendant Union Pacific Railroad Company, citing negligence.
According to the lawsuit, Williford was employed by Union Pacific Railroad Company as a machine operator. The plaintiff states that as an employee of Union Pacific, he suffered "numerous repetitive traumas" while carrying out his work duties.
Williford claims the defendant failed to provide him with suitable tools, equipment and supervision to do his assigned tasks safely.
The plaintiff claims he has sustained severe and permanent injuries, which have caused him to experience pain and suffering, mental anguish, disability and lost wages. He alleges his injuries will affect his ability to earn income and enjoy daily life. He adds that he has incurred medical costs and will continue to require the services of medical staff to recover.
The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus court costs and any other relief the court deems proper. He is represented in this case by attorney Benjamin P. Tobin of Pratt & Tobin in East Alton.
