EDWARDSVILLE – A woman has filed a lawsuit against a construction company after she allegedly fell and injured herself in the parking lot.

Plaintiff Carolyn Hale filed the lawsuit in the Madison County Circuit Court against Helmkamp Construction Company, citing negligence and carelessness.

According to the lawsuit, on March 30, 2021, Hale was a patron at the defendant's office building. Hale claims that as she exited the facility and walked back to her vehicle, she tripped on some construction materials and debris that was left in the walkway.

According to Hale, the defendant negligently failed to properly maintain the premises to protect the safety of visitors.

Hale claims she sustained injuries which have caused her to experience pain, suffering, and mental anguish. She alleges her injuries will adversely affect her ability to enjoy daily life and earn income. She adds that she has incurred medical expenses and will continue to require the services of medical staff to recover.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and any other relief the court deems proper. She is represented in this case by attorney Samuel A. Mormino of Mormino & Snider, P.C. in Alton.
