Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski (IL-13) announced her appointments to three key subcommittees on the House Committee on Agriculture. In the 118th Congress, Budzinski will serve on the Subcommittee on General Farm Commodities, Risk Management and Credit, the Subcommittee on Conservation, Research and Biotechnology and the Subcommittee on Commodity Markets, Digital Assets and Rural Development.
In these roles, Budzinski will be focused on giving Central and Southern Illinois family farmers a strong seat at the table during negotiations for the upcoming Farm Bill. In those negotiations, she’ll be focused on revitalizing rural communities, protecting the farm safety net, maintaining critical nutrition programs and investing in conservation programs.
“As a native of Downstate Illinois, I know just how important agriculture is to the economic health of our state and our communities,” said Congresswoman Budzinski. “I’m excited to be serving on the House Committee on Agriculture as we develop the next Farm Bill – I’m honored to have a seat on three important subcommittees to bring the voices of family farmers in Central and Southern Illinois to the table.”

House Agriculture Subcommittee on General Farm Commodities, Risk Management and Credit
The House Agriculture Subcommittee on General Farm Commodities and Risk Management focuses on the stabilization of farm commodity prices and the protection of farmers against market fluctuations. The Subcommittee covers a wide variety of commodities including corn, soybeans, wheat, cotton, and more. The Subcommittee also oversees agencies aimed at protecting farmers from financial risk including the Commodity Credit Corporation and the Federal Crop Insurance agency.
House Agriculture Subcommittee on Conservation, Research and Biotechnology
The House Agriculture Subcommittee on Conservation, Research and Biotechnology covers a wide range of issues including conservation, pest and disease management, bioterrorism, agricultural research and education, and biotechnology. Congresswoman Budzinski is excited to use this role to advocate for funding for research programs at the University of Illinois and community colleges in Illinois’ 13th Congressional District.

The House Agriculture Subcommittee on Commodity Markets, Digital Assets and Rural Development focuses on commodity exchange markets, rural development, energy and rural electrification. Congresswoman Budzinski is eager to focus on revitalizing rural communities as part of her work on this subcommittee.
