EDWARDSVILLE – A woman is suing the owners of a Granite City apartment building, claiming defective carpeting caused her to fall down the stairs.

Plaintiff Felicia Frison filed the lawsuit in the Madison County Circuit Court against GT Apartment Investors, LLC and C & R Georgetown, LLC, citing negligence.

According to the lawsuit, on Feb. 1, 2021, Frison was a guest at a family member's apartment that was owned and leased by the defendants. Frison alleges that while she was stepping down a carpeted stairway, the carpet came loose off the stairs, causing her to slip and fall down the stairs.

Frison alleges the defendants negligently failed to properly install carpet on the stairs, failed to warn visitors that the stairs were in a dangerous state, and carelessly leased the premises when they should have known that the carpeting on the stairs was a hazard.

The lawsuit states that Frison has suffered severe damage to her right leg and ankle, which has caused her to experience pain, suffering, lost wages, and loss of normal life. She also claims she has incurred medical expenses and will continue to require the services of medical staff to recover, according to the lawsuit.

Frison is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus court costs and any other relief the court deems proper. She is represented in this case by attorney Terry L. Peebles in Cahokia.
