BELLEVILLE — A woman claims she slipped and injured herself on some ice at a Belleville driver's license facility.

Tamara Thurman filed a complaint in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Al-Zara Holdings, Inc, alleging negligence.

According to her complaint, Thurman was an employee of a state's driver's license facility in Belleville, which operated out of a building owned by Al-Zara Holdings. She alleges that as she was leaving work, she was exiting a side door and slipped on some ice that accumulated from a downspout that drained next to the door.

Thurman alleges the defendant was negligent for allowing a downspout to drain water near an entrance/exit of the building, for failing to warn of the slippery condition, and for failing to eliminate the ice.

The plaintiff claims that as a result of her slip and fall, she suffered bodily injuries, pain, suffering, lost wages, loss of normal life and that she has incurred medical treatment costs.

Thurman seeks compensation in excess of $50,000, plus court costs. She is represented attorney Gary L Bement of Gary L. Bement, LLC in Belleville.
