EDWARDSVILLE – A lawsuit against Sterett Companies alleges one of its employees died after he was struck by a crane.

Plaintiff Marlena Crabtree, acting as independent administrator of the estate of Chad Crabtree, filed a wrongful death lawsuit in the Madison County Circuit Court against Sterett Companies, Sterett Crane & Rigging, Sterett Construction Company, Sterett Heavy Hauling and Waggoner Equipment Rental, LLC., citing negligence.

According to the lawsuit, Chad Crabtree was an employee of Sterett Crane. On Dec. 6, 2022, the plaintiff was carrying out the appropriate job duties when he was struck by a crane that was being operated by another Sterett employee. The suit states that Crabtree endured pain and suffering before ultimately dying from his injuries.

According to the lawsuit, Sterett and its employees failed to perform their required duties to properly safeguard Chad Crabtree from harm.

The suit states that the decedent experienced pain, suffering and mental anguish prior to his death as a result of the defendants' negligence and carelessness.

Marlena Crabtree is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus court costs and any other relief the court deems proper. She is represented in this case by attorney Ted N Gianaris and Joshua Edelson of Gianaris Trial Lawyers, LLC in Alton.
