EDWARDSVILLE – A woman claims she was hit with a broomstick during a brawl at the Ragin Cajun bar in Alton.

Plaintiff Shannon Inman filed the lawsuit in the Madison County Circuit Court against defendants Ragin CPB Corp, doing business as Ragin Cajun, Aaron Agne and Brittney Knipp, citing negligence.

According to the lawsuit, on Oct. 30, 2022, Inman was a patron of the Ragin Cajun bar in Alton, which is owned and operated by Agne. The plaintiff alleges the bar's employees served alcohol to Knipp and other patrons until they became thoroughly intoxicated. Inman alleges Knipp and the other intoxicated individuals started physical altercations with other Ragin Cajun patrons. During the altercations, Knipp allegedly struck Inman in the head with a broomstick, severely injuring her.

Inman claims the severe, perhaps permanent, injury to her head has caused her to experience headaches and other pains. She alleges she has experienced pain, suffering, mental anguish and loss of the ability to enjoy normal daily life. Inman adds that she has incurred medical expenses and will continue to require services of medical staff to recover from her injuries.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus court costs and any other relief the court deems proper. She is represented in this case by attorney Timothy J. Chartrand of Williamson, Webster, Falb & Glisson in Alton.
