BELLEVILLE – A shopper is suing a Fairview Heights Best Buy after she allegedly tripped and fell on the sidewalk, causing her to suffer injuries.

Plaintiff Marianne Shaw filed a lawsuit in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Best Buy, Inc., citing negligence and carelessness.

According to the lawsuit, Shaw was a patron at a Best Buy store in Fairview Heights on Feb. 19, 2011. She claims that while she was entering the store, she tripped and fell on the sidewalk. She alleges the sidewalk was uneven and deteriorated.

According to Shaw, the defendant negligently failed to properly maintain the premises to protect the safety of its customers.

Shaw alleges she sustained injuries, including a broken wrist. Her injuries have allegedly caused her to experience pain, suffering and disability. The lawsuit also states that Shaw has incurred medical expenses and will continue to require the services of medical staff to recover.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and any other relief the court deems proper. She is represented in this case by attorney John Hipskind of Hipskind & McAninch, LLC in Belleville.
