BELLEVILLE – An individual claims Carrington Mortgage Services cashed a check that was meant for him and refuses to return the money.

Plaintiff Kevin Link filed a lawsuit in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Carrington Mortgage Services, LLC.

According to the lawsuit, on Sept. 15, the St. Clair County Circuit Court issued a check in the amount of $7,840.62 to the defendant with instructions to endorse the check and return it to the plaintiff. Link alleges that instead of returning the check, the defendant cashed the check without its endorsement and put it to their own use.

Link states that repeated demands to the defendant for return of the funds has gone unanswered.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in the amount of $7,840.62, plus compensatory damages, punitive damages, court costs and any other relief the court deems proper. He is represented in this case by attorney Thomas G. Maag of The Maag Law Firm in Wood River.
