State Rep. Charlie Meier (R-Okawville) of the 108th House District met with the Consulate General of Israel to the Midwest in order to create a relationship to expand trade between Illinois and Israel.

The meeting was held at Meier’s capitol office in Springfield. Meier was invited to connect with the Consulate General of Israel because of his experience as a farmer and position as Republican Spokesperson on the House International Trade & Commerce Committee and the Agriculture & Conservation Committee.

“I appreciate the Illinois Farm Bureau was able to come and assist me during this special meeting with the government of Israel,” Meier stated. “This initial meeting will help connect Illinois’ ag industry with Israel in order to develop foreign trade between the two countries.”

“During the meeting,” he added, “I learned that Israel is about the size of New Jersey and they want to make long-lasting relationships by expanding their presence from our coast to the Heartland. I look forward to future meetings with the Consulate General of Israel and am happy to connect them with Illinois’ agriculture industry.”
