EDWARDSVILLE – An Illinois woman filed a class action lawsuit against the Army and Air Force Exchange Service, claiming the company violates the law by printing customers' credit card information on purchase receipts.
Plaintiff Linda Thompson filed a class action lawsuit in the Madison County Circuit Court against the Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES), citing violations of the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA).
According to the lawsuit, the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA) requires merchants to refrain from disclosing certain credit and debit card information on printed receipts provided to customers.
The lawsuit alleges the defendant violates FACTA by printing the expiration date of customers' credit and debit cards on purchase receipts provided to them at AAFES stores, unnecessarily exposing the plaintiff and class members to an increased risk of identity theft and invasion of privacy,
Thompson is seeking damages for herself and everyone in the proposed class of not less than $100 and not more than $1,000 per violation, plus court costs, attorney fees and any other relief the court deems proper.
