The filing period to submit nominating petitions for the April 4, 2023, consolidated election is approaching.
Those interested in running for local elected positions, such as school boards and other community offices, may file petitions with the Madison County Clerk’s Office anytime from Dec. 12 through Dec. 19.
Madison County Chairman Kurt Prenzler urges residents seeking to represent their communities in local offices to begin filling out petitions.
“Now is the time when you can gather signatures on petitions to run,” Prenzler stated in a press release. “It’s usually not a large number of signatures, but I would advise getting started.”
Some of the offices that are up for election in April include, among others:
- Library boards
- School boards
- Township offices
- Community college boards
- Mayors
- Aldermen
- Village trustees
- Park commissioners
- Water districts
