EDWARDSVILLE – A railroad employee claims he was exposed to toxic chemicals on the job, causing him to develop colon cancer.
Plaintiff Lewis Hill filed a lawsuit in the Madison County Circuit Court against Norfolk Southern Railway Company, citing negligence.
According to the lawsuit, Hill was employed by Norfolk Southern Railway Company as a switchman and worked for the company from 1967 through 1991. Hill states that during his decades of employment with the defendant, he was required to work in environments which caused him to be exposed to various toxic chemicals including asbestos and diesel fuel fumes.
Hill states that as a result of his exposure, he developed colon cancer. Hill adds that the company was aware of the link between these toxic chemicals and risks of developing cancer.
The plaintiff is demanding a trial jury to seek damages for his injuries and incurred medical costs. He is represented in this case by the attorneys Stephen Monroe and Izabela Poznanski of Marc J. Bern & Partners, LLP in Chicago.
