Northbrook tenant sues landlords over slip, fall on icy pavement

Lawsuits

EDWARDSVILLE – A tenant at the Hillcrest Apartments in Northbrook has filed a negligence lawsuit against her landlords after she slipped in an icy parking lot.

Plaintiff Elizabeth Cuccia filed the lawsuit in the Madison County Circuit Court against Bay West Interests, LLC, doing business as Hillcrest Apartments, and Sisk Lawncare and Landscaping, LLC, citing negligence.

According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff was a tenant at Hillcrest Apartments, which is owned and maintained by Bay West Interests. The suit states that Hillcrest Apartments employed Sisk Lawncare to remove ice and snow on its properties.

Cuccia alleges that on Feb. 5, she was walking through the parking lot when she slipped on some ice and suffered serious injuries. She claims she injured herself because the defendants failed to properly maintain the property to protect the safety of its residents.

The plaintiff claims that because of her injuries, she has experienced pain and suffering and that she will be required to seek medical treatment to recover from her injuries.

Cuccia is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus court costs and any other relief the court deems proper. She is represented in this case by attorney Ryan Campbell of Morgan & Morgan, P.A. in St. Louis.
