EDWARDSVILLE – A tenant at a mobile home park claims the property owners fixed her porch with defective materials, causing her to fall through her porch and suffered injuries.

Plaintiff Lavonda Moore filed the lawsuit in the Madison County Circuit Court against the Lakeshore Estates MHP, LLC and Joshua Doty, citing negligence

According to the lawsuit, Moore was a tenant of Lakeshore Estates at a property in a mobile home park. Doty was employed by Lakeshore as a property maintenance technician. Under the lease agreement, the defendants had a duty to maintain the property and keep it in reasonably safe condition, the suit states.

Moore alleges that in February, she informed Doty that the boards on her front porch had rotted and were creating a dangerous condition on the property. She claims Doty replaced the rotten boards but used defective materials. On Sept. 18, Moore claims she was exiting the front door of her property when the boards allegedly broke beneath her, causing her to fall several feet to the ground.

The plaintiff alleges that as a result of the incident, she has sustained serious injuries. She claims her injuries have caused her to experience pain, suffering and disability. She adds that she has incurred medical expenses and will continue to require medical treatment to recover from her injuries.

Moore is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and any other relief the court deems proper. She is represented in this case by attorneys John Hipskind and Brady M. McAninch of Hipskind & McAninch, LLC in Belleville.
