EAST St. LOUIS - An Illinois man filed a class action lawsuit against Proctor and Gamble, claiming the company purposely misrepresented its "pure" shaving cream.

Plaintiff Gregory Taylor filed the class action lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois against Proctor and Gamble citing fraud, negligent misrepresentation and violations of the state's Consumer Fraud Acts. The complaint was filed through attorney Spencer Sheehan of Sheehan & Associates PC in Great Neck, N.Y.

The lawsuit alleges that Proctor and Gamble sells a shaving cream marketed as Pure under its Gillette brand. The label claims the product contains aloe and is free of alcohol, dyes parabens and sulfates. However, Taylor claims a look at the ingredients list shows that at least ten of the fourteen ingredients have been significantly altered from their natural state. Taylor acknowledges that the product does contain aloe, but the suit states that it is the thirteenth ingredient on the ingredients list, which means that the amount of aloe in the product is much less in relative to all the other chemical ingredients.

The plaintiff claims that in order to market the product as "pure," Proctor and Gamble deceptively and fraudulently misrepresented the product in violation of the state's Consumer Fraud Acts.

Taylor is demanding a jury trial to seek damages for himself and everyone in his class action lawsuit plus court costs, plus attorney fees and any other relief the court deems proper. He is also seeking injunctive action to order Proctor and Gamble to cease from further misrepresentation of its product.
