EDWARDSVILLE – A woman is suing Doit's Village Inn in Granite City after she was allegedly hit by a vehicle as an angry patron fled an altercation.

Plaintiff Ann Hildreth filed the lawsuit in the Madison County Circuit Court against defendants Brendan Day and Doit's Village Inn, citing negligence.

According to the lawsuit, Hildreth was a patron at the Doit's Village Inn in Granite City in July 2021. She claims she was leaving the restaurant while Day was having a physical altercation with other patrons outside in the parking lot. During the course of the argument, Day allegedly got into his vehicle and tried to leave the parking lot. In doing so, he suddenly reversed his vehicle, violently striking the plaintiff. The complaint states that Day fled the scene, and Hildreth was assisted by other restaurant patrons.

The plaintiff included Doit's Village Inn in her lawsuit for allegedly failing to take action to contain the altercation, failing to provide security and failing to render medical care to Hildreth after she was injured.

The plaintiff claims her injuries have caused her to incur medical expenses. She claims she will continue to require the services of medical staff to recover. She also states that her injuries will affect her ability to earn wages, and enjoy normal daily life.

Hildreth is demanding a jury trial for for the court to enter a judgement in her favor for damages plus court costs and any other relief the court deems proper. She is represented in this case by attorney Brady McAninch of Hipskind and McAninch, LLC in Belleville.
