BELLEVILLE – A woman is suing her supervisors, alleging she was harassed after she became aware of an extramarital affair and then terminated for reporting it to company president.
Plaintiff Alysha R. Zang filed the lawsuit in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against defendants Wireless Internet Service Providers Association (WISPA), and two of her supervisors, citing wrongful termination, discrimination and retaliation in violation of the Illinois Whistleblower Act, negligence, misconduct, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
According to the lawsuit, Zang was an employee of WISPA. Zang claims she worked for the company from Dec. 18, 2018, until May 24, 2022, when she was terminated.
Prior to her termination, Zang alleges she became aware of an extramarital affair between her supervisors, which allegedly caused them to begin a campaign of retaliatory discrimination and harassment against her. She claims she reported the affair to WISPA president Claude Aiken in the hopes that the harassment would stop, but instead she was terminated, the suit states.
The plaintiff claims she was verbally abused, required to work excessively long shifts without proper overtime compensation, falsely written up and purposely given low job performance reviews to affect her ability to earn pay increases.
The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus court costs, interests and any other relief the court deems proper. She is represented in this case by the attorneys of Wendler and Zinzilieta, P.C. in Edwardsville.
