BELLEVILLE – A motorist is suing the St. Clair County Transit District after a bus driver allegedly ran her off the road and into oncoming traffic.

Plaintiffs Laura Rudolph Kreiter and Nicholas Kreiter filed a lawsuit in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Alternative Transportation System (ATS) and the St. Clair County Transit District (SCTD), citing negligence and carelessness by one of its employees.

According to the lawsuit, Laura Kreiter was driving on North Belt West on June 6 when a St. Clair County Transit bus driver allegedly made an improper lane change. The bus driver allegedly ran Kreiter off the road and caused her to collide with a sign, strike the median, and forced her into the oncoming traffic lane.

Kreiter claims to have sustained injuries that have caused her physical and mental suffering, which will affect her ability to enjoy normal life and her ability to earn income. The plaintiff alleges that as a result of her injuries, she has incurred medical costs and will continue to require medical care to recover from her injuries.

Kreiter also claims she has incurred repair costs for her damaged vehicle and rental car expenses.

Nicholas Kreiter alleges that as a result of the collision, he has been deprived of his wife's consortium and support.

The plaintiffs are seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus court costs, interest and any other relief the court deems proper. They are represented in this case by the attorneys of Wendler & Zinzilieta, P.C. in Edwardsville.
