EDWARDSVILLE - A cyclist claims he was injured when he swerved to avoid a vehicle and was hit by another motorist in Wood River.
Plaintiff Daniel Vazzana filed the lawsuit in the Madison County Circuit Court against defendants Kathy Summers-Coulson and Harlee Coulson, citing negligence.
According to the lawsuit, Vazzana was riding his bicycle westbound on Edwardsville Rd. in Wood River on July 7, 2020, when he was struck by Harlee Coulson vehicle. Vazzana claims he was swerving to avoid a vehicle that was making a left turn when the defendant collided with him. Kathy Coulson is named in the lawsuit because she is the owner of the vehicle.
Vazzana claims he has sustained "severe and permanent injuries," which have caused him pain and suffering and will impact his ability to enjoy a regular life and earn income. He also claims he incurred medical expenses as a result of the collision and will continue to require the services of medical staff to recover.
The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus court costs and any other relief the court deems proper. He is represented in this case by attorney Joseph N. Reames of Joseph Reames Law in Wood River.
