A St. Louis man is seeking damages from Bi-State Development Agency after the vehicle he was driving was rear-ended by a Bi-State bus.
According to a lawsuit filed on May 26 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court, plaintiff Erin Freeman was driving his 2010 Toyota Yaris on Queen Avenue in Sauget, approaching the intersection of Mississippi Avenue on Dec. 9, 2021.
Freeman states that behind him defendant Byron Bishop, a Bi-State employee, was approaching the same intersection in the same lane. The plaintiff was stopped at the intersection waiting to make a right turn when Bishop allegedly rear-ended his vehicle.
Bishop is accused of driving at a careless speed, failing to stop or decrease his speed to avoid colliding with another vehicle and failing to operate the bus safely and properly. Bi-State Development Agency also faces a negligence charge, and each defendant is demanded to pay more than $50,000 in restitution by the plaintiff.
