Madison County Associate Judge Veronica Armouti was elected to the Board of Directors for the Illinois Judges Association.
Armouti was chosen to serve a three-year term on the Board of Directors during the Illinois Judges Association annual meeting on June 3.
The Illinois Judges Association, or IJA, is made up of approximately 1,250 active and retired Illinois State Court Judges. It has approximately 50 members on its Board of Directors. It provides education and services to its members and information about court operations to the public.
In August 2019, Armouti was appointed an Associate Judge in the Third Judicial Circuit, which includes Madison and Bond County. She presides over the traffic division and was previously assigned to the family division. She is a member of the Illinois and Missouri Bar Association.
During the annual IJA meeting, Supreme Court Justice David Overstreet was elected 1st vice president and St. Clair County Associate Judge Julie Katz was elected treasurer.
