BELLEVILLE – A Belleville man is suing a couple alleging that their dog attacked and injured his son.

Plaintiff Michael Green, father and legal guardian of Andyn Green, filed a lawsuit in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against defendants Alexandra and Jarrod Leatherwood, citing negligence and carelessness.

According to the lawsuit, on May 24, 2021, the plaintiff's child Andyn was just outside of his home in the yard when he was suddenly attacked by the defendants' dog without provocation. The dog had allegedly left the property of its owners and gone onto the plaintiff's property.

The plaintiff claims that the incident caused Andyn to suffer severe injuries to his back, right ear and other parts of his body and that the injuries have caused Andyn great pain and mental anguish.

The lawsuit states that the plaintiff has incurred medical expenses and will continue to require medical services for Andyn's treatment and recovery.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus court costs. He is represented in this case by attorney Gregory M. Skinner of Gregory Skinner Law in Belleville.
