EDWARDSVILLE - A woman has sued Wal-Mart over alleged injuries in a fall at the Glen Carbon superstore April 15.

In the lawsuit, filed in Madison County Circuit Court, Queen Wallace claims she tripped over a hose outside the store, "causing her to fall on the ground."

Walmart allegedly "failed to inspect the premises to ascertain the presence of a trip hazard," the lawsuit states. The hose "presented an unreasonably dangerous condition" the suit says. The store also failed to warn customers of the hose hazard, Wallace alleges.

"Walmart had a duty to use reasonable care in the ownership, operation, maintenance and control  of the subject premise," Wallace states.

The store failed to provide a "safe walking area for its customers," the suit says.

Wallace suffered "significant injuries" and is seeking "an amount exceeding $50,000 in damages," according to the lawsuit.

The plaintiff is represented by Brady McAninch of Hipskind and McAninch of Belleville.
