EDWARDSVILLE - A passenger is suing Madison County Mass Transit District, alleging she was injured when the driver suddenly slammed on the brakes.

Trudy Murray filed the lawsuit in the Madison County Circuit Court against the Agency for Community Transit, Inc. doing business as Madison County Mass Transit District (MCT), citing negligence.

According to the lawsuit, Murray was a passenger on a bus owned and operated by MCT on April 24, 2021. She claims the driver of the bus suddenly and without warning slammed on the brakes, causing her to be thrown out of her seat and onto the floor of the bus.

The lawsuit states that Murray sustained injuries that caused her pain and suffering and will continue to do so in the future. Murray claims she incurred medical expenses as a result of her injuries and will continue to require the services of medical staff to recover.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus court costs and any additional relief the court deems proper. She is represented in this case by attorney Brian W. Burge of Meyer Jensen, P.C. in Alton.
