Woman sues over trip, fall at Cahokia Dollar General

BELLEVILLE – A woman is suing a Dollar General store in Cahokia, alleging a dangerous curb made her fall and injure herself. 

Lois Wisdom filed the lawsuit in the St. Clair. County Circuit Court against DG Retail, doing business as Dollar General, and Karen and Stephanie Champerlain, citing negligence.

In the complaint, Harris-Watson alleges that the store's employees had failed to take proper precautions to protect the safety of its customers.

According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff was shopping at the Dollar General Store located at 4011 Mississippi Ave. in Cahokia on July 3, 2020. She claims she tripped on a curb that was hidden by advertising signs, injuring herself. Wisdom claims the curb was in a derelict condition and that there were no signs warning customers that the curb was dangerous.

Wisdom alleges the fall caused her sustain severe injuries and endure pain and suffering. 

The plaintiff is seeking damages in an amount exceeding $50,000, plus court costs and any additional relief the court deems proper. She is represented in this case by attorney Matthew P. Young, of Kuehn, Beasley, & Young, P.C. in Belleville.
