BELLEVILLE – A man is suing Caseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center on the behalf of an elderly woman, alleging she developed bed sores due to negligence.

Plaintiff Kenneth Franklin, acting as guardian for Janice D. Love, a disabled person, filed a lawsuit in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against defendant Caseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, LLC., citing negligence.

According to the lawsuit, Love was a resident at Caseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center from Sept. 15, 2017, through Aug. 21, 2020. The lawsuit states that while she was there, she experienced numerous incidents of developing pressure sores and infections, including an incident so serious that she had to be hospitalized for sepsis.

The plaintiff claims that Caseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and its employees should have known that Love was at a high risk for developing pressure sores and infection and should have taken proper measures to safeguard her.

According to the lawsuit, Love has endured pain, suffering and disfigurement and has incurred medical costs, as a result of her injury.

The plaintiffs are seeking damages in an amount exceeding $50,000, plus court costs and any other relief the court deems proper. They are represented by attorney Jaime Koziol Delany of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.
