EDWARDSVILLE — A driver who allegedly caused a collision by failing to obey a traffic signal at an intersection in Troy is facing a negligence claim.

Chelsie Kelley filed a complaint in the Madison County Circuit Court against Alyssa Grimm, alleging negligence.

Kelley claims in her suit that she was driving her vehicle on Illinois-162 in Troy on July 28, 2020, when she was struck on the passenger side by Grimm.

Kelley alleges Grimm was negligent for failing to yield the right-of-way, failing to reduce her vehicle's speed and failing to sound a warning. She also alleges Grimm failed to obey the traffic signal or try to maneuver to avoid the collision and failed to keep a proper lookout.

As a result of the collision, Kelley claims she suffered multiple injuries to her body, lost wages and incurred medical treatment costs.

Kelley seeks compensation of more than $50,000, plus trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Ashley Vaughan of Brown & Crouppen PC in St. Louis.
