EDWARDSVILLE — A woman alleges a poorly-constructed step with no handrails or anti-skid material caused her to fall at an Edwardsville restaurant.

Beverly J. Gould filed a complaint in the Madison County Circuit Court against 24 Franchise Group LLC, ARC Edwardsville LLC and Sonic ARC I Manager LLC, alleging negligence.

Gould alleges she was at the defendants' restaurant on Plummer Drive in Edwardsville on Oct. 10, 2020. She claims she was entering the restroom when she walked onto a step, slipped, fell and suffered a fracture to her femur.

Gould alleges the defendants were negligent for improperly constructing the step, failing to inspect the property and knew or should have known of the danger. She also alleges there was no handrails on either side of the step or any frictional or anti-skid material on the step. Additionally, she claims the defendants should have blocked access to the exterior step because it was a hazard.

Gould claims she incurred medical, hospital and therapy expenses as a result of her slip and fall.

Gould seeks monetary relief of more than $50,000, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Tonya Genovese and Sara Salger of The Gori Law Firm PC in Edwardsville.
