EDWARDSVILLE — A motorist is suing the estate of another driver, alleging he failed to yield the right of way and caused a Granite City collision.

Joshua M. Burnett filed a complaint on April 11 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Taylor Fehrenz, special administrator of the Estate of Jimmie B. Brewer, deceased, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Burnett alleges that on Sept. 15, 2021, he was driving his GMC Sierra on Nameoki Road near the intersection of Harrison Street in Granite City. He claims Brewer was operating a Buick Enclave when he failed to yield while driving into the intersection and collided with his Sierra.

Burnett alleges he suffered injuries to his neck, back, head, hands, knee and other parts of his body as a result of the collision. He claims Brewer failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to reduce his speed to avoid the collision and was driving at a speed greater than was reasonable. Burnett further claims he has incurred large sums in medical expenses, suffered lost wages, and suffered disability and disfigurement.

Burnett seeks monetary relief of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. He is represented by Rodney Caffey of The Caffey Law Firm LLC in Godfrey.
