Driver alleges tire, rim from truck struck his vehicle, causing spinal injuries

EAST ST. LOUIS — A motorist claims he suffered disabling spinal cord injuries when an inflated rim and tire from a tanker trailer struck his vehicle on Interstate 55.

Carlettas McBride filed a complaintin the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois against Quality Carriers Inc., Michael V. Moore and Triple JP Enterprise.

McBride alleges in the complaint that he was traveling on Interstate 55 on July 23, 2015. He claims that suddenly, an inflated rim and tire struck his vehicle head on. The suit alleges the object came from a Quality Carriers tanker trailer, which was being operated by Moore. 

McBride allegedly suffered severe spinal cord injuries and is now disabled. He further alleges he is now relying on SNAP benefits, public housing and other programs because he can no longer support himself. 

McBride seeks monetary relief of $175 million, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is representing himself pro se.
