EDWARDSVILLE – A motorist is suing another driver for allegedly failing to yield proper right of way and causing an Edwardsville collision.
Plaintiff Dawn M. Vereeke filed the lawsuit on April 4 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Natalie L. Mangiaracino, citing negligence.
According to the lawsuit, Vereeke was driving northbound on S. Buchanan Road in Edwardsville on Aug. 15, 2020, when she was allegedly struck by a vehicle that was being operated by Mangiaracino. Mangiaracino was allegedly heading eastbound on E. Park and had stopped at a stop sign where E. Park meets S. Buchanan Road. According to the lawsuit, after stopping, Mangiaracino allegedly proceeded to enter the intersection and into the path of oncoming traffic when Vereeke collided with her vehicle. Vereeke did not have a stop sign or traffic signals indicating that she should stop or slow down.
The lawsuit states that Vereeke sustained "severe and permanent disabling injuries" as a result of the collision. She also claims the crash has caused her to experience "great pain, suffering, and anguish." Vereeke claims that her injuries will affect their ability to work and conduct normal activities and that she has incurred and will continue to incur "substantial" medical bills.
Vereeke is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus court costs and any other relief the court judges proper. She is represented in this case by attorneys Jeff Wagener and Paul Marks of Sivia Law in Edwardsville.
