EDWARDSVILLE - A motorist is suing for $50,000 after another driver allegedly made an illegal turn and struck his vehicle in Granite City.

Plaintiff Neal Brown filed the lawsuit on March 22 in the Madison County Circuit Court against defendant Malik Garrett, citing negligence.

According to the lawsuit, Brown was driving southbound at the intersection of Edwardsville Road and E. 20th St. in Granite City on Dec. 6, 2021, when Garrett allegedly turned into the intersection while the light facing him was still red and collided with Brown's vehicle.

The lawsuit claims that Brown has incurred potentially permanent injuries to his head, brain, neck, back and arms. Brown alleges he has incurred medical expenses as a result of the collision and continues to experience "pain and suffering and mental anguish."

Brown is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus court costs, interest and any other relief the court deems proper. He is being represented in this case by attorneys Michael P. Glisson and Timothy J. Chartrand of Williamson, Webste, Falb & Glisson in Alton.
