EAST ST. LOUIS - An Alabama man is suing Walmart Transportation, alleging one of its employees was operating a semi truck and allegedly hit the plaintiff as he was walking in the parking lot.

Nicolas C. Stanhope filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois against Tracy A. Morris and Walmart Transportation, citing negligence.

According to the lawsuit, on June 17, 2021, Stanhope had parked his semi truck and was heading into the Walmart Distribution Center in Olney at around 1:45 p.m. when he was struck by another semi-truck being operated by Morris. The lawsuit states that Stanhope was struck while walking on the crosswalk.

As a result, he claims he suffered "severe and disabling" injuries as well as physical pain and anguish. According to Stanhope, the incident has caused him to be liable for the cost of medical care, and that his injuries have affected his ability to perform his work and other activities.

Stanhope is seeking damages in the amount of $75,000, plus court costs and any other relief the court deems proper. He is represented in this case by attorney Paul E.H. Rademacher of Hassakis & Hassakis, P.C. in Mt. Vernon, Ill.
