EDWARDSVILLE - A man claims a solar energy company fraudulently misrepresented the tax credits, energy effectiveness and savings after installing a solar energy system.

Richard Goddard filed a lawsuit in the Madison County Circuit Court against Power Home Solar LLC, alleging deceptive trade practices and common law fraud.

According to the complaint, Goddard entertained a sales pitch from the defendant in January 2020, wherein a sales representative made certain representations concerning the value of tax credit to be earned after installation of the solar system, the effectiveness of its solar panels in producing energy and monetary savings on electric bills after installation of the system.

Goddard then entered into a contract with the defendant for the installation of a solar energy system at his home. He claims that after the installation the value of tax credits earned were significantly less than those represented, the effectiveness of energy production was significantly less than represented and money savings promised by the defendant were significantly overstated.

Defendant accused of deceptive trade practices due to the misrepresentation of its solar energy system and other goods and services being of a particular standard, quality and or grade; making false statements to the value of tax credits to be earned and making false statements as to the savings on energy cost.

Goddard seeks a sum in excess of $50,000, plus cost of suit and attorney fees. He is represented by Nicholas G. Higgins of A&L Licker Law Firm in Union, Mo.
