EDWARDSVILLE - A bar patron claims he was battered when another man became intoxicated and attacked him.

Bradley James Hackethal and Jamie Hackethal filed a lawsuit in the Madison County Circuit Court against Fast Eddie's Bon Air, Inc, The Keys on Lake Carlyle, Inc. and David Gottshall, alleging claims under the Dram Shop Act of Illinois.

According to the complaint, Bradley Hackethal and Gottshall were at the defendant bars on Aug. 14, 2021, when Gottshall was allegedly served too much alcohol and became intoxicated. After becoming intoxicated, Hackethal claims Gottshall battered him.

Hackethal claims he was caused to suffer internal and external injuries, endured pain and suffering, incurred medical expenses, lost wages, and will be prevented from attending to his usual affairs and duties of daily life.

The plaintiffs seek an amount in excess of $50,000, plus court costs. They are represented by Joshua R. Evans of Great River Injury Law in Jerseyville.
