EDWARDSVILLE - A mother is suing Saint Anthony's Health Center and a physician for allegedly misdiagnosing her son's condition prior to his death.
Patricia Jones, as administrator of the estate of Jeremy Jones, deceased, filed a lawsuit on Jan. 10 in the Madison County Circuit Court against OSF Healthcare System, doing business as Saint Anthony's Health Center and Rodger Hanko, M.D., alleging wrongful death.
According to the lawsuit, Jeremy Jones went to the Saint Anthony's Health Center emergency department on June 11, 2020, and was discharged after being evaluated and diagnosed with Pleurodynia. Jones later suffered an aortic dissection with rupture and was pronounced dead on July 6, 2020.
The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to diagnose the aortic dissection, failed to adequately assess the decedent for chest pain, failed to appropriately treat the decedent and failed to admit him into the hospital.
Jeremy Jones was caused to endure pain and suffering and medical expenses. Patricia Jones, Jeremy's mother, was caused to suffer pecuniary loss and damages.
Patricia Jones seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount in excess of the jurisdictional requisite. Jones is represented by Michael F. Sullivan of Kralovec Jambois & Schwartz in Chicago.
