EAST ST. LOUIS - A motorist claims he suffered injuries from a collision caused by a Utley employee.

Wyman Wilson filed a federal lawsuit on Jan. 7 in the Southern Illinois District Court against Utley Inc., alleging negligence.

According to the lawsuit, Wilson was operating a motor vehicle that was traveling southbound on I-57 on Oct. 6, 2021, when a vehicle owned by Utley Inc. and operated by one of its employees allegedly collided with Wilson's vehicle.

Wilson alleges the defendant failed to keep a proper lookout for other vehicles, failed to keep his vehicle under proper control, drove a vehicle in such a manner that it caused a collision, failed to properly apply the brakes, operated a vehicle at an excessive rate of speed and followed more closely than was reasonable.

Wilson claims he was caused to suffer injuries to his neck and to the soft tissues of the cervical, shoulder, and lumbar area, including the muscles, ligaments, tendons and nerves. He also claims he became sick, sore, lame, disordered and disabled and suffered extensive injuries to his head, body, and limbs, both internally and externally. He alleges he incurred medical expenses, suffered disability; endured pain and suffering; lost wages and suffered the impairment of future earning capacity.

Wilson seeks an amount in excess of $75,000 plus cost of suit. Wilson is represented by Thomas C. Rich of Fairview Heights.
