EDWARDSVILLE - A man is suing a baseball field after he allegedly fell and broke a hip on the party deck while watching a game.
Randolph J. and Margaret Bagent filed a lawsuit on Dec. 22 in the Madison County Circuit Court against E&G Baseball/Alton, Inc., doing business as Alton River Dragons, Prospect Collegiate Baseball, LLC., and the City of Alton.
According to the lawsuit, the plaintiffs attended a River City Dragons game at Lloyd Hopkins Field on Aug. 1 and were seated on the "Coors Light Party Deck" on the third side of the field. The party deck is a wooden structure with seats along the front rail of the deck and food and drinks in the back. During the game, Randolph Bagent claims he was returning to his seat after getting water. He claims he had nothing to hold on to, missed a step and fell.
Randolph Bagent claims he was was caused to suffer a broken hip, endure pain and suffering, disability, loss of a normal life, disfigurement, and incurred medical bills for treatment.
The plaintiffs seek an amount in excess of $50,000, plus costs of suit. The plaintiffs are represented by Edward J. Szewczyk of Pratt and Tobin, P.C. in East Alton.
