EDWARDSVILLE - A motorist is suing another driver who allegedly ran a red light, causing a Collinsville collision.
Zanekqua Washington filed a lawsuit on Dec. 20 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Stephen Sams, alleging personal injury.
According to the lawsuit, Washington was driving on Johnson Hill Road at the intersection of Belt Line Road in Collinsville on Sept. 13 when Sams allegedly failed to stop at a red light, colliding with Washington's vehicle.
Washington alleges Sams failed to keep a proper lookout for other vehicles, failed to properly apply brakes, failed to stop at the red light, operated his vehicle at an excess rate of speed and operated his vehicle on a highway without adequate brakes.
Washington claims she was caused to suffer extensive injuries to her head, body and limbs internally and externally, and injuries to her back in the soft tissues of the cervical, shoulder and lumbar area including muscles, ligaments, tendons and nerves. She also claims she incurred medical treatment costs, suffered disability, endured pain and suffering and lost future earning capacity.
Washington seeks an award in excess of $50,000, plus costs of suit. Washington is represented by Joh H. Hustava of Collinsville.
