EDWARDSVILLE - A woman claims she fell off a waxing table and sustained injuries at a Glen Carbon wax center.

Marcella Cox filed a lawsuit on Dec. 17 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Chummy, LLC, doing business as European Wax Center-Glen Carbon and European Wax Center, Inc. alleging premises liability and negligence.

According to the lawsuit, Cox was at European Wax Center in Glen Carbon on Dec. 21, 2019, when she allegedly fell off the waxing table due to the "defective" sanitary paper covering improperly draped over the table. She claims the paper covering was not secured, creating a falling hazard.

Cox alleges the defendant failed to remove defective and dangerous conditions, failed to warn of defective and dangerous conditions and failed to properly secure the sanitary paper covering for safe use.

Cox claims she was caused to suffer injuries to her face, head, neck, left shoulder, left ribs and left hip, past and future medical treatment and impairment in the ability to enjoy life due to her detriment and damages.

Cox seeks a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs. Cox is represented by Joseph M. Weidhaas of Goldblatt and Singer in St. Louis.
